Available Positions
We’re looking for nurses! Strong candidates will be self-initiating and collaborate skillfully as part of a small healthcare team and a large all-camp team, including under stress. Nurses successful in this role balance a powerful work ethic and commitment to Odyssey Teen Camp’s mission with adaptability, playfulness, and a sense of humor. A passion for providing respectful, compassionate care for trans/gender non-conforming and neurodivergent teens is highly valued. OTC offers a fun, rewarding, and refreshing nursing experience. Compensation is $1500/week, with housing and meals provided.
Nurse Responsibilities:
- Assess camper injury and illness
- Independently apply nursing judgment and mindfully adhere to provider’s orders in delivering interventions
- Determine when emergency care or evaluation by an Advanced Practitioner is indicated
- Administer scheduled and PRN medications
- Document all assessments, interventions, medications administered, communication with parents/guardians, and disposal of medical/biological waste accurately and completely
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of Health Hut and equipment
- Review and organize camper health forms and records
- Provide on-call overnight coverage on a rotational basis
- Train camp counselors in first-aid, infection control, head injury response, and allergy awareness
- Collaborate with the Health Hut team, Directorship Team, Wellness team, camp counselors, and the local
- Board of Health: follow instructions, incorporate feedback, voice concerns, and delegate tasks as appropriate
- Ensure that all Odyssey Teen Camp protocols, local and state guidelines for healthcare provision and camp management, and evidence-based best practices are upheld at all times
- Adhere to HIPPA standards
- Create a positive and inclusive medical environment for campers and staff by respecting pronouns and identities
- Assist in maintaining a camp atmosphere that is comfortable, playful, and supportive for all campers and staff
Nurse requirements:
- Current Massachusetts nursing license (RN or LPN) or ability to obtain before start of employment
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of state guidelines for nursing practice and camp management or capacity to familiarize
- Ability to pass a background check, complete a physical exam, and provide proof of immunizations
- Physical ability to navigate uneven terrain in an outdoor environment

We are looking for enthusiastic Cabin Counselors who can lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that Odyssey Teen Camp has to offer. You should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun and safe camp experience. To succeed as a Cabin Counselor, you should have a passion for community and feel empowered to facilitate groups of teens!
Camp Counselor Responsibilities:
- Working with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate camp programs.
- Lead programs that you share a passion for
- Monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and mitigate harm.
- Ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
- Understand and know all emergency procedures and enforce camp rules.
- Participate in staff meetings
- Communicate with other staff members to ensure care, safety, and fun of campers
- Encourage, support, and enjoy time with awesome teens
Camp Counselor Requirements:
- Minimum of 20 years of age
- First aid, CPR, and additional training may be required.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Pay Scale: $4000-$4,500

The Camper Manager is part of the Wellness Team. They are responsible for logistics around camper life during the on and off-season. The Camper Manager works closely with the Wellness Team, Health Director, Communications Manager, and Staff Coordinator to gather necessary information about a camper and make sure the correct steps are taken to address situations including, but not limited to, organizing housing, organizing coming and going from camp, and gathering information regarding incident reports. They are also responsible for creating and helping facilitate parts of staff training related to camper care and conflict resolution. This position includes organizing housing for all campers and staff on campus.
Before camp/Off Season:
- Attends open houses (monthly)
- Attends Leadership meetings (2x-4x a month)
- Periodic meetings with other staff members
- Helps create and revise staff training materials in relationship to camper needs, behaviors, and conflict resolution
During camp:
- Leading workshops and trainings during staff training
- Meet regularly with other staff members
- Will be consulted on decisions to go home early and any other disciplinary actions
- Disciplinary actions decided upon in collaboration with Communications Director, Wellness Team, and Pod Leaders
- Track late and/or early arrivals and departures.
- Coordinate with other staff members and family members accordingly
Housing:
- Organizing housing for campers and staff
- On arrival days, making sure any housing issues and changes are taken care of and documented appropriately
- Responsible for approving/denying housing change requests
- Checks in with Pod Leaders and Wellness Team before making this decision
- Keeps track of camper birthdays and relays this to pod leaders to celebrate them
- Goes over and keeps track of incident reports and communicates with appropriate people to address any necessary issues.

Odyssey Teen Camp (OTC) is seeking a new Daytime Program Coordinator! We hope to find a compassionate, creative, adaptable, and highly organized person to join our team. Previous experience in summer camp programming and working with teenagers is a huge plus. We would love to find someone who is passionate and dedicated to restorative justice and would love to help us incorporate restorative justice practices into the culture of our summer camp.
The Daytime Program Coordinator is responsible for planning the day-time activities of camp and OTC’s day-to-day operations. Primary duties include coordinating camper activities, which involves scheduling over 40 classes per day and providing materials to class teachers. Our schedule changes each year based on what talents and skills our staff bring to the table. We like to keep it super flexible and open to collaboration, so we need someone who can roll with the punches.
Other duties include coordinating processes around medication distribution, getting to and from activities, and staff training. They will work with the production crew to ensure activities run smoothly and all campers and staff feel comfortable and confident in our processes.
This position would train closely with our previous program director. We would love to see an innovative and experienced self-starter bring their expertise to the job and make it their own!
Off-Season Responsibilities:
- Working with the Mental Health Team to develop OTC’s processes around conflict resolution & restorative justice
- Assisting in staff training schedule
- In May/June: solidifying class schedule
At-camp (summer) season:
- Creating & updating class schedule
- Overseeing rainy day activities + communicating changes with staff
- Coordinates & creates class schedule
- Creates and implements schedule for intersession and Social Justice Saturdays
- Purchases class materials & organizes them in the “Programming Room”
- Documents attendance lists for each intensive

Office Manager:
- Remain available in the office for visitors, mail, staff office needs, etc.
- Manage traffic in and out of the office/campus
- Assist in organizing and communicating during arrival and departure day
- Answer office phone
- Manage budget for programming/approve and oversee as-needed purchases
- Assist in communications between parents and campers as needed
- Coordinate specific camper needs like laundry, extra supplies, lost items, etc.
- Attend regular meetings
- Manage golf cart, hotspots, speakers, etc.
- Must be organized and ideally have customer service experience
- Proficient in computer functions such as printing, email, excel, doc, etc

Wellness Team Member Responsibilities:
- Respond to heightened camper emotional safety needs in the moment
- Assess risk/safety
- Support campers' use of coping skills
- Communicate on ongoing basis (daily meetings, as-needed check-ins) with leadership team and pod leaders about community and individual wellness needs
- Sharing relevant information across camp with relevant staff throughout the day
- Coordinate around emotional/physical camper wellness issues with nurse team
- Provide brief one-to-one support for staff relating to camper issues as needed
- Caregiver communication, including pickup coordination
- Outside provider communication as appropriate
- Support staff in use of restorative practices off-season
- Cultivate and maintain outside partnerships (incl. EFC, Keshet, *outside contractor for staff wellness*)
- Plan and implement staff training on mental health topics, including risk/safety, coping skills, redirection, and self-regulation
- Candidates with experience in case management, mental health counseling, and crisis intervention highly preferred

The Media Specialist is responsible for managing all media taken of campers and staff throughout each camp day, uploading the photographs to our camper photo site, and organizing photos into folders for future use. In addition, they are expected to actively film live video to be used in our slideshow/video and year-round marketing.
Media Specialist Requirements:
- Minimum 20 years of age
- Proven experience as a photographer/videographer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of photography art and lighting
- Strong creative presence
- General proficiency/understanding of media organization
- software and equipment
- (video cameras, DSLR, adobe, final cut, etc.)
Media Specialist Responsibilities:
- Management and delegation of staff assigned to take pictures during periods every day at camp
- Organize and keep track of all equipment used to take photos/videos
- Understanding and execution of our media shot sheet/punch list
- Screen and upload camper photos, understand our policies about publishing
- Manage media libraries on web platforms daily and maintain “hard” copies on our A/V computer.
- Create a weekly slideshow for campers and parents
- Communication with our Social Media and marketing staff remotely
- Understanding OTC’s mission statement and keeping this reflected in the moments we capture
- Being a part of a collaborative group and having a great time!
This position is in addition to a Counselor position! At OTC we have a lake with different waterfront activities!
Skills and Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have experience in a management or supervisory position at a similar aquatics area of at least six weeks duration.
- Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard and Waterfront Skills Certifications.
- Maintain the safety of all people in and around the waterfront area.
- Remain alert and use all senses while guarding.
- Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
- Work as a team with other lifeguards.
- Handle discipline situations with courtesy.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the waterfront area, including the boathouse.
- Assign and delegate tasks to aquatic observers.
- Complete all necessary injury reports.
- Set up the waterfront area for specific activities according to the weekly program schedule.
- Weekly testing of swimming water; record results and report to supervisor.
- Communicate and enforce all camp regulations for the waterfront professionally.
- Assist maintenance staff in daily cleaning tasks when not at the waterfront.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay: $5,000
This position is in addition to a Counselor position! At OTC we have a lake with different waterfront activities! If you are not certified but are interested in applying, we will pay for your certification!
Specific Responsibilities for Lifeguard:
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to assess and communicate information to the lifeguard team, campers, and staff.
- Remain alert and use all senses while guarding.
- Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard and Waterfront Skills Certifications.
Pay: additional $250-$350 on top of counselor pay for the summer
